Day 198: Kapsalon
Thursday, October 15th, 2009“Kapsalon” is Dutch for hair salon. This locally popular dish was invented by a hairdresser who kept ordering it from the neighbouring shoarma shop, while it wasn’t on the menu. It’s a layered combination, with from the bottom up: chips (fries), shoarma or kebab, good dose of garlic sauce, melted cheese, and fresh salad. Sambal (spicy red pepper sauce) is optional.
You can see how it’s made in this video, where they interview the hairdressers that invented the dish. It’s all in Dutch, but from 1m50s into the video, you can see exactly how it’s made.
