Week 49: Cherry blossom

April 13th, 2011

Four days late, I think I broke my own record there :-) My excuse: I was travelling, and taking lots of photos!
I’ll be posting more over the next couple of days, but this is my entry for last week, taken last Friday not very long before sunset.

Week 48: More blossom

April 3rd, 2011

Yesterday we had a very warm day here, 20-24 degrees Celcius. Today’s a regular 14 again, to remind us that it’s actually still spring, and not summer. So… here’s another blossom of which I haven’t the faintest clue what tree it’s on.

Actually, it’s not even really on a tree.
Here’s a photo of how it looks in its surroundings. (it’s the white stuff on the right):

Week 47: Coltsfoot

March 30th, 2011

I took these during a short picnic break on our cycle trip this Sunday. The weather was gorgeous, we’re hoping it will be just as good when we go for the ‘real’ thing: cycling to our camping destination this summer.

Week 46: Blossom buds

March 20th, 2011

I think it’s still early really, but some of the trees in my neighbourhood have already started blossoming. I’m not good at determining the name of the tree they’re on though, so I can’t tell whether they are cherry, apple, pear, or maybe even something completely different.

Most of the trees still look like this:

I know from last year though, that their flowers will be the white/light pink type with lots of petals per flower.

One that I didn’t photograph today (but did two years ago) is in near full bloom already, and then there’s one that’s got a lot of buds still, but also some flowers already:

If anyone can tell me which is which, I’d be grateful :-)

Week 45: Snowdrop

March 12th, 2011

Week 44: European Cornel

March 6th, 2011

Week 43: Pylons

February 24th, 2011

Week 42: Alder catkins

February 19th, 2011

Noteworthy: the alder tree in Dutch, has the same name as I have.

Week 41: Tree

February 16th, 2011

This tree is full of brown leaves that should have fallen off last autumn. I guess it tried to skip the winter and succeeded, sort of…

Week 40: Round two

February 8th, 2011

I’m really bad with house plants. I forget to give them water regularly, and even at the end of the season, I forget to clean out the pot. Sometimes that’s a good thing. Apparently.
These hyacinth bulbs from last spring started coming up again all by themselves, after a whole autum/winter season of being forgotten in the window sill :-)
