Day 153: Big

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Today’s photo wasn’t taken to be aesthetically pleasing, but instead to document something:
Gabriël’s class is doing a school garden project, and today it was time to harvest potatoes, beans, and.. courgette. I’ve never seen courgettes this size before though. The ones I buy in the shop aren’t even a quarter of this size. I put a tape measure next to it. It’s about 40 cm, or 16 inches long!

Day 149: Lens flare flower

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

This one isn’t quite what I had in mind — lens flare, and the pattern of our roll-down curtains in the background, quite visibly. I still like it though, and didn’t feel the need to play with any levels or contrast. I do feel the need for a good black background sheet however…

Day 148: Moonlight in the sun

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

This is a sculpture called “Light of the Moon” by Igor Mitoraj, on the same grass as in yesterday’s photo, in Scheveningen. It is part of the extensive collection of Theo and Lida Scholten, who started up the museum “Beelden aan Zee” (Sculptures at Sea).

The sculpture is black, but I played a bit with the color levels and contrast. Photo taken last Sunday.
